Nob Hill undoubtedly is one of the top hunter breeding stallions in North America today. Bred by Diana Dodge, this stallion has made a tremendous mark in the hunter breeding and competition circles for many years.
Started as a two year old by Rodney & Unjin Jenkins he was highly regarded by the two top trainers as a horse with great promise. Riders would line up in the barn everyday battling over who got to ride the superb young stallion in the early years. It was clear from the beginning of his career that the Hunter arena was where he was going to make his mark. He began showing in many Breeding In Hand classes winning the Pennsylvania & Maryland Hunter Futurities. He was also 2nd in Dressage at Devon as a yearling catapulting his career into the Hunter arena.
Nob Hill’s Grand Sire, Sir Thomson, was Ms. Dodge’s “Horse of a lifetime”. A classical thoroughbred stallion who was bought by Ms. Dodge at the Keenland sales in 1969 and became the foundation of her breeding career and lifetime with horses. Sir Thomson was Champion at Harrisburg & Upperville, Reserve Champion at Washington & The Garden, and Best Young Horse at Devon at age 2. As a breeding stallion, Sir Thomson was highly popular amongst breeders who came in droves each season to cover their mares with this incredible stallion. One of his famous offspring was Nob Hill.
Nob Hill is sire of the 2011 Sallie b. Wheeler National Hunter breeding champion, Ooh Ah, owned by Leslie Nelson.
Two of Nob Hill’s daughters, Dauntless and Delphine, have earned many top honors, including Virginia Horse Show Association and International Hunter Futurity east coast tricolors.
Sunset Hill and Signal Hill were Circuit Champions in the Hunter Divisions at WEF 2014 and another of Nob Hill’s offspring, Walnut Hill, was Reserve Circuit Champion in the hunters at WEF 2014.
Nob Hill has earned his right to be called one of the BEST hunter breeding stallions in North America.
