Groundbreaking International News for American Breeder

Anticipation builds among Sporthorse breeders throughout North America as Hyperion Stud, LLC, a small breeding operation in Barboursville, VA is proving even the biggest goals are obtainable with enough ambition and determination. Just last week, the official announcement was made by Robert Splaine, the Chef E’ Quipe of the Irish Equestrian Team, that not one, but two Hyperion stallions have been chosen to compete in Aachen, Germany at the world’s most prestigious 5-star competition.

Founded in 2008, Hyperion Stud, LLC is owned by one woman with an unyielding passion for the international show jumping scene. Her philosophies in breeding, training and competition are already proving to be a successful trifecta and paving the way for the next generation of American Sporthorse breeders.

Hyperion’s foundation breeding stallion Imothep (Indoctro x Calvados x Dominard) and the rising young stallion Chin Quidam VDL(Chin Chin x Quidam de Revel x Landgraf I) were selected to represent Ireland with up-and-coming show jumping sensation, Darragh Kenny. Both stallions were competing successfully at Spruce Meadows, including two WINS by Chin Quidam VDL, when the news was confirmed.

“It is a tremendous privilege to have two of our horses jumping in Aachen, Germany. Less than five years ago I recognized Imothep’s raw potential and purchased him from Europe to carry out my vision. I wanted to develop a breeding system here in the United States and prove a stallion could compete at an international level and fulfill breeding commitments during the same season. To come from the American system and be chosen to jump 1.60m at the Aachen Nations’ Cup in just 4 years validates every aspiration I set out to achieve with Hyperion Stud. I also have the upmost confidence in Darragh Kenny and look forward to providing him with other Hyperion horses in the future to contribute to his outstanding success as a rider.”
